Unarguably, VMware Fusion is undoubtedly the best virtualization software for the Mac. This is not only limited to Fusion for mac, its sibling Windows app VMware Workstation is the perfect emulator for Windows and Linux. Unlike other Virtualization software, VMware Fusion for Mac is an app that you buy once and can use forever. My virtual machine's process (prlvmapp or Parallels VM) in the Activity Monitor consumes 100% of Mac CPU or above. Parallels 15 has to rebuild shaders from DX to Metal; I tried running Shadow of the Tomb Raider on a whim (to compare Mac native to Parallels performance), and it took many minutes to build them (using a mac-side process that will maximize a CPU core). But then it caches them to disk. Parallels Toolbox for Mac Hide non-active apps. Energy Saver hides active (idle) applications. It makes the hidden applications go to the built-in Mac App Nap mode, where they consume very little energy. Pause non-essential processes. Energy Saver pauses a number of system processes that are always running in the background.

Why Is Mac Overheating
I'm having (and have been having for a couple of weeks) some issues with my iMac 9,1. I'm running OS X 10.6.8 and I'm experiencing the computer freezing, though the mouse still works. I've run Apple Hardware Test twice and just did the TechTool Deluxe test. Both couldn't find anything wrong.

My Mac Is Overheating
Like I said, this hasn't actually affected the game at all. No slowdown, no forced quits because of low virtual memory or anything. I'm curious if this is something I should be concerned about and, if so, how concerned. Is there any remedy (i.e. can I force the fans to run more to keep it cooler)?
I have zero problems with it otherwise. I'll putting off games for now.
EDIT: Despite no errors of low virtual memory, could that be the problem anyways? If so, it'd probably get me to pull the trigger on upgrading to 4GBs, which I've been meaning to do for a few months.
